Stigma related to mental-health issues is stuck in the Dark Ages. I often feel like I'm admitting to some great moral weakness just by mentioning that I take an anti-depressant, for pity's sake. When the psychiatrist's receptionist leaves a message on my voice mail, she identifies the call as coming from the "doctor's office," so as to circumvent accidentally divulging a dirty little secret. A generation or two from now this attitude will be looked upon as absurd.
